Alex Baranowski is a Tony nominated composer and arranger. Previously with 2Faced Dance he was composer for In The Dust.
An alumni of Paul McCartney’s LIPA, his collaboration with Mercury winning band The xx was performed at the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and previously with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in the UK for a live broadcast on Radio 1. Other music collaborations have been with Peter Hook (Joy Division), and virtuoso violinist Daniel Hope on Spheres, which reached number 1 in the UK & number 3 in the US Billboard classical charts.
Alex’s music for theatre has included productions in the West End and Broadway as well as the National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Donmar, Young Vic, RSC, Royal Court, Shakespeare’s Globe and Sheffield Crucible. He has collaborated with directors including Michael Grandage, Nicholas Hytner, Danny Boyle, Benedict Andrews, Lyndsey Turner and Rupert Goold.
Music for dance includes 1984 (Northern Ballet); Kes (Sheffield Crucible); Together Alone (Ballet Black, ROH); The Rock (Moko).
Music for film includes the twice BAFTA nominated McCullin, (winner of the Music + Sound Award for Best Feature Film Score); Attacking The Devil; We Are Many; Shelter; Making a Killing; Future, Inc.
